Suifan's Kwang Tze is a topically-based formula developed by Dr Lai Yuk, who is not a modern developer – she is reputed to have created this formula more than one hundred years ago after decades of research, and has since become popular worldwide. Clearly, there is a lot of mythology connected to Suifan’s Kwang Tze Solution. For instance, it is reputed to have been used by the Royal families of the Ching Dynasty. However, while mythology may sometimes be grounded in fact, at other times, it fares less well, and is found to be more hype than fact. Suifan's Kwang Tze contains some of the following: Fructus Cnidii, Cortex Cinnamomi, Flos Caryophylli, Rhizoma Alpiniae Officinarium, Rhizoma Atractylodis, Pericarpium Zanthoxyli and Radix Angelicae Dahuricae.

Many of the elements used in this formula have not been readily used to increase sexuality, either in capsule-based or topically-based preparations. Rhizoma Atractylodis is used in Chinese medicine to ease Hypofunction of the spleen, anorexia, abdominal distension and diarrhea, dizziness, palpitation and spontaneous sweating.

Pericarpium Zanthoxyli is also known as Prickly Ash Peel, and it is used to ease pain in the stomach and abdomen, vomiting, diarrhea and other conditions. The herb is often used in combination with Dangshen, dried Ginger and other herbs for dispersing cold, strengthening the spleen and arresting diarrhea. Radix Angelicae Dahuricae is used to ease a nasal congestion, as well as relieve pain, and to promote the subsidence of swelling and pus drainage.

Fructus Cnidii is the lone herbal extract in this formula, with a history of being used to address impotence, but it has also been used to support women in easing vulval itching and trichomonas vaginitis. However, it is usually used as a tea or a capsule, so it is unclear to us how it well it may work in a topical formula.

Rhizoma Alpiniae Officinarium is also known as Ginger, and it has been used to address stomach issues. But it is said to be very warming, so it may warm the penis, thereby causing some arousal, especially when used with Cortex Cinnamomi, which is a skin warmer as well.

Some men gravitate toward topical formulas, such as Suifan's Kwang Tze, because it seems convenient and easy to use. This product is clearly only for external use, and a thin layer is said to be applied to the penis 2 hours prior to intercourse. However, as with any topical preparation, skin irritation may develop for some people, which may be very uncomfortable in general, and particularly so when this occurs in the genital area.

Our findings show that capsule-based technology is far superior to topical formulas when it comes to augmenting male sexuality. While it is great to stimulate the skin, the body’s internal systems regulate sexual function. Research proves capsule-based technology allows the herbal extracts to reach the blood stream and directly affect the right systems to increase performance.

We see little indication after carefully reviewing the formulary for Suifan's Kwang Tze that it may effectively increase male sexuality; although due to the inclusion of Rhizoma Alpiniae Officinarium and Cortex Cinnamomi, a person’s skin may feel warmer, and perhaps more aroused. However, this warmth will probably not translate into increased erectile functionality. Our research indicates that capsule-based technology is far superior, especially when using known and potent sexuality enhancers.

For instance, Tribulus Terrestris has been used to augment testosterone production, in order to increase erections, sex drive, virility and stamina; Ginseng has an innate ability to ease erectile fatigue; while Damiana, a known aphrodisiac, has been shown to intensely stimulate the nerve endings in the penis to increase sexual pleasure, while also directly augmenting erectile performance in terms of arousal, hardness and frequency.
