| Brazilian Suma for Natural Male Enhancement September 17, 2009 | |
| Brazilian Suma Review Summary ------------------------------------------------------ As anyone who has started investing in holistically-based supplementation to address male sexuality will tell you – there is a lot to choose from online. There are devices, lotions, oils, drinks and capsules. Some of the oral and topical formulas are created by combining several herbal extracts. For instance, often Tribulus Terrestris and Epimedium, two potent sexuality enhancers, are used together in the more progressive formulas. However, others simply use one element to increase an aspect or several aspects of sexual functionality. Suma is an herbal extract that has received a lot of attention on both the male and female sexual markets as of late - being used alone and with other extracts to increase sexual feeling, drive and pleasure. Let’s take a more in-depth look at the ins and outs of this extract. Ingredient at a Glance ------------------------------------------------------ In its natural form, Suma is a large, shrubby ground vine which is well known throughout Central and South America. In fact, it is indigenous to the Amazon basin, Brazil, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela. Suma was initially discovered by botanists in 1826, and it is also known as Pfaffia paniculata, Hebanthe paniculata and Gomphrena paniculata. Ingredient in Focus ------------------------------------------------------ Suma is known in South America as Para Toda, which, when translated, means "for all things". In many ways, it is viewed as being a Brazilian version of Ginseng, and like Ginseng, it is used as an adaptogen. It has been used by individuals who live in the Amazon region for generations to address a variety of health issues, such as arthritis, asthma, cancer, chronic fatigue syndrome, circulation problems, diabetes, Epstein-Barr, hypertension, hyperglycemia, immune disorders, impotence, inflammation and leukemia, as well as being used as a general tonic to restore energy levels and overall rejuvenation. Suma has also been used as an aphrodisiac, relaxant and to address ulcers. It is still heavily used by practitioners of folk medicine in several rainforest-based Indian tribes. Sexual Lifestyle ------------------------------------------------------ In clinical studies, it was found to contain 9 different amino acids, many electrolytes, trace minerals, Iron, Magnesium, Zinc, as well as Vitamins A, B1, B2, E, K and Pantothenic Acid. It has a high germanium content, which may account for its traditional use as an oxygenator, and it contains high levels of Iron, which may be useful in addressing anemia. It has also been studied as an anti-cancer and anti-tumor agent, with some promising results. As a sexuality enhancer, it has not been widely studied, but it is suggested to be similar to Ginseng. While Suma may revitalize the body in a general way, at this time it has not been shown to ease erectile fatigue, nor has it been shown to increase sperm count or motility. Ginseng, on the other hand, has been shown to effectively increase a man’s sexual performance and feeling. Positives ------------------------------------------------------ •Has been shown to be valuable in addressing a variety of ailments •Contains many minerals and vitamins Negatives ------------------------------------------------------ •Has not been shown in clinical studies to be an effective sexuality enhancer •May not be as potent as Ginseng Final Thoughts ------------------------------------------------------ In many ways, Suma has been found to be a rather healthful herb, which may address a wide variety of issues. Luckily, research on this herbal extract is continuing. We hope that researchers will focus on its purported aphrodisiac abilities, in order to determine its level of effectiveness in this arena. As noted earlier, it is often compared with Ginseng in terms of potency and effectiveness in addressing sexual performance, but this claim has not been proven as of yet. Ginseng has been shown in clinical trials to be exceptionally effective in augmenting sexual desire, stamina and libido, while also easing erectile fatigue. Also, in clinical studies, it was shown to enhance sperm count and motility, and in some cases, it increased the volume of a man’s ejaculation. These same abilities have not been proven to be associated with Suma as of yet. Original Article Reference: | |
