Avela for Natural Male Enhancement
April 26, 2009
Avela Review Summary
------------------------------------------------------

One of Avela’s major marketing points seems to be that it is enhanced by BioPerine. This may sound quite scientific and impressive, but BioPerine is simply a patented extract of black pepper that is often used in natural remedies to enhance the absorption of vitamins and minerals. It can be quite helpful, but unfortunately in this case does not put Avela head and shoulders above the crowd.

All told, Avela contains a list of fairly standard ingredients, but it is missing one or two that might really make a difference in this kind of supplement.

Ingredients At A Glance
------------------------------------------------------

L-Arginine, an amino acid that has been shown to relax blood vessels; Eurycoma Longifolia, also known as Longjack, as an aphrodisiac; Cnidium Monnier to boost libido; Xanthoparmelia Scabrosa for stamina; GABA, a neurotransimtter that helps to ease the stress; Epimedium Sagittatum, also known as Horny Goat Root, as an aphrodisiac.

Butea Superba, a Thai plant that has been shown to help erectile function; Avena Sativa, an oat that may free up bound testosterone; Mucuna Pruriens, which may improve mood and sexuality; Ginkgo Biloba , which improves blood flow; Maca, a Peruvian root that may increase potency and virility; Tribulus Terrestris to increase energy levels; and Bioperine, which, as mentioned above, has been shown to possibly increase the bioavailability of other ingredients.

Ingredients In Focus
------------------------------------------------------

Maca is often referred to as Peruvian Ginseng, and has been used by South Americans to increase strength, energy, stamina, libido and sexual function. Legend has it that the Incas would consume it before going into battle. While many Peruvian doctors also use maca in their practices to treat erectile problems, they typically use the whole root, as opposed to the dried, ground herb. For this reason, supplement consumers may often take too little to derive the benefits.

Lifestyle
------------------------------------------------------

Avela’s product website posts detailed diagrams explaining the biological processes by which erections occur. While this may be helpful for some to understand, the fact remains that the product contains ingredients common to many other male enhancement supplements currently available.

It is easy to understand the appeal of a natural approach, since many of these standard ingredients can also have a range of other health benefits, including increased energy and better memory. Some other ingredients, such as Yohimbe, can contribute valuable antioxidants as well as scientific validation, since this herb was recently approved by the FDA for the treatment of sexual dysfunction.

Positives
------------------------------------------------------

•Website posts testimonials
•Buy three get one free offer
•Posts clear descriptions of each ingredient

Negatives
------------------------------------------------------

•Does not post testimonials from physicians
•Does not contain Yohimbe
• Dissatisfied consumers have begun speaking out about the poor results this product has produced. To hear about their negative experiences, you can click here to read a number of posts in this Avela blog.

•Does not post clear usage warnings

Final Thoughts
------------------------------------------------------

The manufacturers of Avela most likely wish to appeal to consumers through science. Despite this approach, the product does not include Yohimbe, which has recently gained approval from medical professionals. Some of the ingredients in the Avela formula have been used to boost libido for quite some time. However, men seeking a bit of extra assurance may want to add an additional Yohimbe supplement.
