The induction phase is perhaps the hardest to maintain, because it is extremely restrictive. This phase of the Akins Diet initiates a process in the body commonly known as ketosis or starvation. This phase forces the body to believe that it’s starving, which forces it to live off fat reserves, which is how weight loss is achieved.
